Texas Has Produced Some of the Wackiest Campaign Videos of ’12: Here’s 6 of Them

Today is Primary Day in Texas, and as the saying goes, everything is “bigger in Texas”, even their ability to produce weird, zany, wacky, and eyebrow raising political ads.

The political ads so far in the U.S. have been sort of humdrum, so thank God for the candidates in Texas for picking up the slack of the rest of the country. (Although, a South Dakota Congressional candidate is picking up the slack for his state over the weekend).

Below are the 6 best that we have found, ranging from the intentionally bizarre to the unintentionally weird.

If we’re missing any, please leave them in the comments! Enjoy!

#6. “Big  Mike” Sutton for City Council

We highlighted Big Mike for his efforts in green screen technology not long ago, and his is a case where personality truly is key.

#5. Lou Gigliotti for Congress – Gun Rights

Gigliotti’s video is included as an example of a video that would only fly in a “red” state, with Gigliotti shooting down clay pigeons near the end that represent things like the “EPA” and “taxes”.

#4. Lee Leffingwell for Austin Mayor – “Lee Leffingwell’s Day Off”

The Mayor of Austin successfully gets inspiration from Ferris Bueller.

#3. Glenn Addison for U.S. Senate – “Dave and Ted’s Epic Adventures”

Fun with photoshop and cartoon bodies

#2. JM Lozano for State Representative – “Dear Carlos…”

Dear Carlos, I’m sorry you’re featured in a kind of creepy ad.

#1. Roland Sledge for Texas Railroad Commissioner – “Electric Fences”

Seems harmless enough, until someone pees on the electric fence.
